Coffee poured into small cups during an Ethiopian coffee ceremony

Our Community

From the farm to the neighbourhood.

In Ethiopia, coffee is traditionally shared in a ceremony, and whoever walks in while the pot is on is poured a cup. It is a tradition about company first and the drink second. Our community work carries that idea in two directions: back to the communities that grow our coffee, and out into the neighbourhoods in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah where our cafés stand.

At origin

Where the coffee is grown.

The coffee we roast is grown by farming communities, in Ethiopia and in select origins elsewhere. Paying fairly, and investing in education there, is part of how we buy.

Ethiopia stays at the centre of our coffee and our cafés. The hospitality around its coffee ceremony shapes how we host, and giving back to the places the coffee comes from is part of how we work, not a separate initiative.

Helping Hands

Fair payment first, then education.

Helping Hands is the name we give to what Boon does at origin. It begins with working closely with the farming communities that supply us and making sure they are paid fairly for their coffee.

Beyond fair prices, we invest in education in those communities. As Boon grows, so does what we are able to put back.

  • Close relationships with farming communities
  • Fair payment for the coffee we buy
  • Investment in education at origin
  • Giving back that grows with the business

Team Boon

Every ride ends at the counter.

Team Boon is a community cycling group supported by Boon Coffee Roasters. Riders of all levels meet for regular rides on local roads and finish together over coffee at a Boon café.

The idea is simple: a reason to get up early, people to ride with and a good cup at the end. New riders are always welcome. Ask at any Boon café.

  • Open to riders of all levels
  • Regular rides on local roads
  • Coffee together at the finish
  • New riders welcome
Local impact

Rooms for the neighbourhood.

Each Boon café is meant to be a room the neighbourhood can use, where regulars, cyclists, students and families share the same tables. We host tastings for customers and partners, and our baristas will happily walk anyone through the brewing methods we use.

We are a homegrown UAE business and we buy like one, choosing local suppliers where we can. These neighbourhoods have supported Boon since 2012, and we try to return the favour.

  • Cafés that work as community rooms
  • Tastings for customers and partners
  • Local suppliers where practical
  • Homegrown in the UAE since 2012
